One other thing the Newton did that none of the others have done
since, is give me the ability to write something down once, and have
it permanently stored, and portable. My one problem with paper
planners, is the frequent need to rewrite notes, or enter a name/phone
number/address into my DayTimer, and then, later, to re-enter it into
my computer. Same with notes, instructions, directions, etc. With my
Newton, it was entered once, and done. I no longer had to remember it.
Oh, and same with calendar events, etc. My Treo has come the closest,
simply because I always have it with me, and the keyboard is very
handy, and equally as fast (and error-prone) as my Newton w/ HWR, but
it doesn't have that same "organic" way of working that the Newton
had. It _feels_ like a computer, and acts like one. My Newton seldom
felt like that.
