Ah, Micro$oft didn't "create" DOS; they virtually stole it from the
developer by their routine tactic of promising a bunch of money and then
only paying a pittance.
IBM originally wanted to use CP/M, but when that fell through they went
to M$. M$ agreed to provide IBM with the M$ product; the only problem is
that they DIDN'T have a viable OS! So they glommed on the the OS that
they then re-packaged as MS-DOS.
Frankly, IMO, M$ hasn't created anything; just copied other software
vendors ideas and modified them.
