Christian,
You mentioned a holster, which do you use with your newt? and of course which model does said holster fit? Thanks

Really sorry to hear that, but I can assure you that if you really can't
find a way to integrate your Newt into your life, someone here is bound to
be willing to help out -- by offering to integrate it into theirs! ;-)

Seriously, two things you could try.

First, read back though the list a bit and see what the rest of Newtkind are
doing with ours.

Second, ask yourself some questions, like: 1. What do you do in your life
that you'd like to keep better track of (appointments, meetings, phone
calls, etc.)? 2. What do you do that currently generates notes scribbled on
bits of paper, or backs of envelopes, or Post-it notes, or the palm of your
hand? 3. What kinds of things do you wish you could write down, but never
seem to have pen(cil) and paper when you need them? 4. If you currently use
a paper diary system now (and there are several that are very serviceable
and a real pleasure to use), are there any tasks that currently go into it
which produce a lot of data and for which you would like to have a search
facility?

Between these two things, I've found myself using my Newt for so many
different things that it's the only gadget I never leave at home (apart from
my clothes). I use it to track all my appointments, keep records of
meetings, take notes of lectures I attend (on a wide range of subjects
including astronomy, computing, archaeology, theology, philosophy, biology,
and history), keep my contacts (also including small drawings of maps so I
can remind myself of directions, and including custom fields to include key
information), and schedule my phone calls (and and time them), keeping notes
with them for later reference.

In addition to that, I do virtually all my writing on it now, since I
realized that I write better without the distractions of an ordinry computer
and the additional distractions of this or that "word processor". I get
more done in less time, and the quality is better. Also, the flow from mind
to page seems better since I'm strongly oriented around handwriting and I'm
one of the lucky ones who finds my Newton is nearly flawless in reading my
scrawl.

Finally, I can keep detailed records of important things like my health
stats, training stats and other details, quickly and conveniently.

Best of all, if I suddenly think of something I need to write down while I'm
out somewhere, I don't have to wait until it's convenient and discreet to
[a] open up a laptop on a counter top or [b] sit down to open my laptop. I
can pull Newt from his holster, scribble the appropriate ToDo, meeting,
phone call reminder, or Note, and not even step out of line (although I
stopped writing while walking after I walked into a tree).

I also have secondary Newts, one that can be a fall-back in case this one
takes ill, and the rest for doing special work in my office that doesn't
require being out and about so much. And if I found another one or two at a
good price, I'd probably add them too!

And after nearly 4 years, I'm still only using the built-in packages. There
are a few packages I want to add, especially since I'm finally considering
adding wifi etc. (and maybe do a bit of e-mail and such) to at least one
Newt, but when so many jobs can be done with just the built-in stuff, I
haven't been in any hurry.

Use your imagination Tony, you own a Newton: the sky's the limit!

Shalom.
Christian
