If you install the SER-001 or similar, you will very likely need to file off
the top of that plastic serial connector. When I first installed my SER-001
(properly, of course), there was a slight bulge on the bottom of my Newton
case, surrounding the serial connector in the port bay. After a year and a
half, my case cracked. I opened the case, filed down the connector and then
glued (to the best of my ability anyway) the cracked areas of my case with a
flexible epoxy. There is hardly any bulge now and the fact I am using a
flexible glue to hold my cracks together prevents further cracking. I've
never had a functional problem with the SER-001 though.

Best,

James Wages
