BeOS is mostly POSIX-compliant already. Any OS that counts time from
midnight January 1 1970 UTC and which can't count signed integers
higher than 2^31 is going to have trouble come January 19th 2038.
Posix doesn't specify counting in 32 bits but it does specify using
the Unix epoch.
It's fair to say that BeOS's POSIX compliance (or at least imitation
of this one aspect of Unix) puts it in exactly the same camp as other
POSIX systems when it comes to counting time. Chris C's evaluation was
entirely accurate.
Just sayin'.
