It is odd isn't it?

The serial port would have been nice, but I think the weird serial port was there for the Audio in and out lines and all that added functionality.

Probably the best reverse hack for the Newton would be to replace the serial port with a more standard port (either Mac or 9 pin serial) with a line in and out ports.
