So in theory if I got an EL panel the same size as the newton screen it could be done?

From looking at your pictures I can see a few issues to over come:

- Having to hide the inverter within the casing,
- using a 9v batter some how
- getting an EL panel the same size? can they be cut?
- getting the other one off or some how using the screen from a 110?
