The OMP could - with the proper 9V battery-powered adapter - connect  
to a Motorola flipfone.

If the setup was correct and the battery fresh, and stars, moon and  
planets aligned properly (and with wind was at your back) you could  
sometimes send and receive text-based e-mail like AppleLink and  
CompuServe (to the younger readers, these are NOT made-up names).
