[NTLK] snow leopard ethernet

I find the connection a little shaky. I find that I do better with consumer grade dumb switches than with cisco switchgear. The cisco switch doesn't like the connection dropping when Newton switches off the NIC to save power.
Also, sometimes it takes a few MINUTES for appletalk over IP to find my NCX computer. (once in a blue moon, the connection starts up right away, but most of the time it starts working right before I get frustrated and start messing with things. Patience...

As Woody mentioned (he helped a lot, thanks!) I connect wireless no problem to G3 Pismo (10.4). I am going to try wired to my machine when the keyspan Woody recommended arrives.
Re reinstallation dock tcp/ip extension: is there a place on wide net, or maybe you can answer: How do I do installation/reisntallation?
I imagine:
1. Drop (if I find successfully what I really need) to Pismo. I assume it's some kind of XXX.pkg. Do i do anything with it or leave as it is and move to newton?
2. Connect my newton to Pismo
3. Move XXX to Newton (either pkg or the result of expanding?)
4. ?
