It's a bad pram battery. I replaced mine and it booted right up, after the same problems. However, if your battery is bad, do not leave it in the G3, for what ever reason it was damaging my PRAM and causing the error again. Replacing the Pram is not easy however, and is my only argument against the near perfect design of the G3. >>
