Hi Michael

HWR support in Works is not as good as it is on Notes.  I guess the developers
were thinking that if you wanted to do bulk text input you'd use the keyboard
and Works.  Are you aware of the various gestures available to allow you to edit
existing text in Notes?  These make editing pretty quick.  Check here if you
haven't read or heard of them before:

I find Notes is good for docs 200-300 words before the Newton slows or it
rejects larger notes.  There is a utility called Big(ger?) Notes which allows
the Newton to over look bulky notes but I've found that this can cause the
Newton to crash.

I don't write so much on an eMate because I find reaching over the keyboard for
any length of time, fatiguing.  Instead I just use the eMate touch screen for on
screen navigation.

Can you stand writing on an eMate? I thought it would be a great writing
machine but I found it painful to work with anything but very short
documents. In a nutshell, the problem is revision. I guess I am spoiled by
modern word processors because I jump around a lot and I'm always thinking
of things to insert, move, or delete. Almost nothing I write comes out all
straight and linear, but grows like some kind of knarled fractal.

It is, however, a pretty spiffy telnet terminal with PT100 or a serial
link to a PC.
