I too can confirm they're still around...I've had several email exchanges with Hardy Macia and can attest to his courtesy and consideration,, and that he values his Newton customers.

I was looking to purchase Catamount's Pocket Money software for the Newton...it seemed kind of pricey for 20 year old sofware, so in the NewtonTalk tradition I emailed him and inquired about a price reduction. He responded courteously and generously, cutting the price from $40 to just $10.

He took 3-4 days last October to send my serial #...like it's been said, he's probably very busy these days.
