Could we get Clu to give us a rundown of what the full situation is? Because some of the remedies suggested are confusing me, and I'm on my fourth iPod touch.
1. In the mean time, plug it into a Mac via the USB cord which came with it, let it charge up.
2. Once it shows power, it should boot, or re-boot. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Erase All Content And Settings"
3. Unplug it without ejecting (ignore the nasty messages), start up iTunes, plug the touch back in. It should be recognised as a virgin device.
4. Select "Update", iTunes will query the Apple Software Centre and offer to the download the current version of iOS which works on your device.
Cheers

If it's newer than/or 4.2 it likely won't work...I'm not sure if you can go backwards and install an older version of iOS (you'd need no later than v4.1)...but you'd need one that works with Tiger--which is that one. It shipped with v3.x.

Its success has been mostly based on its lack on actual telephone circuitry, but still offers wifi access for Internet usage, gameplay, email, etc. It's basically an iPhone without the phone part--and because of that, it's been more affordable to those whose (for example) who perhaps are already locked into a contract with another carrier but still want Apple's huge selection of apps.
