[NTLK] eMate 300 connectivity

I have all I need to connect an eMate 300 to a PC running Vista and/or an iMAC Power G3 but it ain't happening. Neither allows me to connect; I get a no response message. Any suggestions. Remember I have the connectivity cd, the serial adapter cable and have drivers downloaded on the respective machines -- but no connection. Wireless next?
