A murse is officially a "man purse".
I call mine a Satchel.
I remember back in the 60s in Germany, my cousins and friends all carried "bags" of some type. I've carried a Satchel for the past 25 years and some other kind of bag for the 20 years prior to that. In this way, I don't have to have uncomfortable items in my pockets like a phone, a Newton, a wallet...all of these things reside comfortably in my satchel. In fact, I don't have to worry about pickpockets either since I carry everything in my bag.
