I'm hopeful that one day we will get a decent replacement. I was talking
about the names app and how it can add notes and affiliates, my loving
spouse told me that his blackberry could do this too (and I have a
blackberry...the only smartphone I cannot seem to kill). My problem with
Blackberry is that while I find it nice for communication in email and
text, its calendar and contacts system leaves something to be desired (as
does dialing 1-800-pick-ups or similar numbers). Perhaps I just never
figured out all the nuances, perhaps it's just short sighted design (the
iPhone has a lot of that in it still and historically had rather grave
shortsighted design "features"), either way I know what I need out of a
device. This has yet to be replaced in my eyes. I may struggle to get
vcards (prompting me to re-enter, by hand, every contact I have in the
various "clouds" out there...not a bad thing in the long-run, you get a
complete consolidation and can prune people you've not talked to in 5
years...or find out have passed on, in a few cases)...but I can still send
data off the device, and I can get most forms of data I'd need onto it via
email. Never really played games, just kinda business focused...have been
since I was 15.
Long live this wonderful creation. May one day it's intuitive nature be
reformed on a replacement device (preferably, one that can go a week on a
set of batteries/charge with backlight, wireless, and extensive input like
the device it is replacing).
