I did redo the thermal paste. It is now around 30-40° when idle. Before it would go up to 60° when idle but the fans would kick in when its hot as heck.
When the MagSafe light goes out, the power is still connected. Otherwise the computer would shut off, it doesn't have a battery. And software also shows that a power supply is connected.
Thanks

>> I don’t know why fans are kicking in earlier, but TGPro is FABULOUS for monitoring and setting temperature thresholds for fan. Nothing else comes close. Well worth the price, but also lots functionality unregistered. Lets you see which component is hottest and set fan to respond to that sensor. (On my Books, hub die is usually hottest unless CPU-intense processes running like converting video file, then CPUs get somewhat hotter than hub. (Don’t know if 2006 has hub sensor.))

>> Re: MagSafe Light: when it goes off, does battery monitor still show power connected? If not, most likely the cord is going. Several delicate wires in cable, don’t last forever. I had one I nursed along for over a year, repositioning cable whenever it got interrupted, until it finally gave up. Might be possible to discover where it’s broken and splice to fix, but can be hard to locate the damage.
