Quite true.  But most stories involved with them give the description of
a force that sucks everything into themselves.  While some may say
"pulls everything into themselves" it isn't as common.  Both will either
mention gravity or it assumed.

And if you want to go technical: If one is in a area where atmosphere is
vented very quickly (say a hole in the side of a space craft), you are
not being "sucked" into space.  But rather "blown out" into space.  So
not even vacuum, truly, sucks. ;)
