I recall discussions on very similiar subjects here, years ago. The big issue, IIRC, was that the older cellphones one could use to connect to the Newton were analog. Digital phones began to appear in the early 2000's, the result being a better and clearer signal. The bad news was that, due to the nature of digital/ increased security, connecting the Newton to these phones became a less and less viable option,
