No, there is no software utility that will let the Newton charge rechargeable AA batteries in the AA tray. The AA tray is physically different on the outside than the rechargeable batter pack, and a switch or contact is available with the rechargeable battery that “turns on” the ability for the Newt to charge it.

The software only changes the estimate of the battery level based on the type of battery chemistry that you select in the app.
