You can also grip the end of the card with a pair of needle-nose pliers and
pull it out.

In my case the modem card was once pulled out by its cable while my MP2k
felt down. You might try this by fixing the cable and pulling the card
together with the connector. I think after a few tries your card will
slide much easier. Maybe that you have some dirt in the card slot.
