PHY is an abstract category for SIR/FIR and the proposed VFIR
(16Mbps).

OBEX is the object exchange protocol.
MC is the protocol used to talk to mobile phones.

interestingly there is now an IrDA Lite spec which defines ways to
reduce the size of a compliant implementation. a shame it wasn't
available for NOS2.1 :-(
