Carrying extra phone cord is not a bad idea. It doesn't weigh much and
I certainly have lenty around here.
Cell phones in any kind of wilderness are iffy at best. I've been in
many places where mine just does not work. I'm not even sure if mine will
accept a cellular modem, but I do expect I'll look into it. The other BIG
problem with cell phones is that the batteries, even when the phone is
off, just don't last that long.
