I have a similar setup (no Macs but a lot of servers) and my MP2100 and
eMate connect properly. Each Newton has NIE 2.0 and the requisite Ethernet
packages and each is equipped with a Farallon card. My units are set to
pull IP addresses using a DHCP server built into my sharing device (Nexland
ISB2LAN).

You should also have an Ethernet option. Connection is done via TCP/IP (it
would have to be).

As I said, mine is done via DHCP. My DSL service went over to PPPoE and
I've had to replace my proxy/NAT setup with a hardware PPPoE client. The
upside to all of this is that the Newton's connect properly (they didn't
under MS Proxy Server). Does your DSL service allow you to have more that
one IP or are you using some type of NAT layer to share a single
connection? If you're using the latter, you may want to check if the Newton
link works without the NAT in place (direct connection to the DSL). If it
does, then you'll have to reconsider how you share.
