That's why you should drain the NiMH's and NiCD's.
NiCD's should be drained as much as possible then recharged after every use.
NiMH's should be drained every six months, but you can recharge as you please in between the six months.
Li-ion as NiMH's.
This way the 'dry'-cells can regain the lost capacity.

I went even further by recharging only after a complete drain every time. I rotate between 2 packs and I've had them since July 1997! They still give me almost full capacity. Do that if you can and you'll squeeze the most out of your rechargeables.
