   Martin.

I have also been having this problem and what I find is that if I remove
the batteries for an hour or so (hour is the shortest time I have had sucess
with but I have not tried times between 15 min and 1 hour) it will start and
reboot.

While I'm at it lets collect a little data on this phenomenon.

   I have an MP2000 upgraded.

  1) My Newt sometimes spontaneously goes to sleep, taking several tries and
may require soft reset via reset button on the back before turning on.

  2) Newt remains unresponsive until all power is removed for an undetermined
minimum amount of time one hour is the shortest time I have been
sucessfull.

       Newton Reboots
Date is set to some time in 1996.

If anyone can anyone can help or provide data please do,

I think that a bad package is causing this so I'm to isolate the problem I
am freezing all packages by folder.
