WHERE do I find a more up to date alternative to NCU?

For ages now I've been desiring a Newton utility that will allow me
to synch my trusty old MP 2000 with more than the outdated list of
translators provided with NCU (really crusty old PIM's, word
processors etc). The only third party synch utility I know of is the
'Now Synch' package for synchronizing 'Now Up to Date and Contact'.

If anyone knows a third party desktop solution that will work with
the likes of Appleworks, Word 98, Chronos Consultant, or any current
Mac or even PC desktop titles, please let me know. My Newton gets
pretty lonely being an over powered, under used PDA, gathering dust,
all because of the lack of modern file translators available.

It's a pity that Apple didn't release updates to NCU before the Newt
was discontinued, as the NCU software harks right back to 1995-6 but
the Newt wasn't dissed until '98.

Any suggestions... Perhaps I should just get a Palm Vx?
