NTLK 2000 PC serial cable

Hi

I've manage to loose my original PC serial cable that came w/ my 2000. Is
it possible to use any old serial cable, or something like the Palm Mac
connectors w/ a PC? Or, do I have to find the original. My guess would
be that I can use anything, but then I tried it on a Dell laptop w/ no
luck. Before I go digging around inside windows to configure serial
ports, I just want to make sure.
