NTLK Programming a Hotline Client

Hi again,

You developer folks got me very interested in trying my hand at making a
Newton Hotline (from hence forth, Newtline). However, I have NO NewtonScript
experience. I've heard mentions of a product called NSBasic, which is, I
believe, some form of relatively advanced BASIC for the Newton? That might
be nice...

If it resembles REALBasic or VisualBasic at all. MANY simple, example
Hotline clients have been written in REALBasic, all of them readily
available for download along with documents explaining the protocal*. Would
this be a good place for me to start, or is NSBasic completely and totally
different from the two environments I mention above?

* The protocal was never "opened" by Hotline Communications, but developers
got the hang of it quickly by using OTSessionWatcher to monitor every bit of
data the client/server sends and receives. Documentation on this has been
released in a quite a few places, not to mention the 10+ example clients and
the opensource HX.

Tchao,
Pete
