The unlock code for some software (well OK, Tacktile is the only one I know
of) is based on unrepeatable events like the exact time you generated the
code- so the password that you buy may/will never work again- if you delete
and reinstall the package, you are stuck, unable to register.

Most other authors use your username or similar variable that you can
control as the key to their algorithm, so that you can reinstall if needed.
All the stuff from Scrawl that I've reinstalled many times has always let
me reregister, for example.
