i know of one MP2100 owner here who formed a tip out of hot glue, the kind
you apply with this pistol thingy. Just put a drop on the stylus end
(making sure it extends into the hole for stability) and form it to a cone
with two wettened finger tips, rotating the stylus meanwhile. He says the
writing feeling with it is very good, softer than before.
Others transplant tips from commercial styluses (the "cross stylus" or
some such) with superglue for stability (see the list archive at
http://www.chuma.org).
Myself, i prefer wood styluses: finely sanded and paper-polished, the
tip formed with a pencil sharpener. If you find a stick similar enough in
length and thickness to the original Apple stylus and reproduce the grooves
near the tip, maybe it fits into the holder, too (i wasn't interested in
that yet).

good luck,
-- Wolf
