I had this problem with my 2000 when it had been totally drained of power.
My rechargeable battery pack would not enable my machine to start up at all,
no could I start it off of power, both with the bat pack in and out. I
finally got it going by putting a fresh set of AA's in and having it plugged
into power. I got quite a fright but all seems o.k., even when the power
has gotten very low again.

That battery pack sounds dead, there are people on this list that are
offering refurbishing on those packs.

Andre

PS Would you be able to send a URL of that case to me, off list?
