Boy, does that bring back memories. mid 70's in
Highschool running HP teletype printers on an HP3000
and HP2000 timeshare system! Batch basic and fortran
IV!
The big game at the time that was played interactivly
between 5 schools in NoVA, was Advent (short for
Adventure) You usually never met anyone else who was
playing, but it was a lot of fun when you did!
I wrote my first programs on that system! You mention
tape backup? Huh! Try Paper-tape, and punch cards! You
want to talk about being glad to get terminals? on the
last day of the year, we would have to spend hours in
the computer room babysitting the paperpunch machine
on the teletype to make sure that the tape either
did't run out or tear. They flushed the systems at the
end of every school year, so you had to save what you
wanted!
