No, I did not do that... but this is the next thing on my schedule.
However, I have little hopes that this problem can be solved by simple
cleaning because the power button does not work - I can only switch it on
by opening the screen lid or by pushing the reset button. I think some
controller chip is acting weird.

This does happen sometimes, indeed...
I can get my hands on another eMate today and will conduct some experiments
like switching the keyboards to narrow down what the problem is. On the
way, I will try what happens if I try to switch the other eMate on while
pressing the Apple key
Maybe I can even uncover the mystery of those hidden keys...

Thank you for the offer, but I want to keep it - the eMate has become
increasingly valuable as a writing tool to me. If you really want to buy an
eMate, you should talk to Robert Benschop - he may still have some new
units, and I heard that it=B4s a pleasure doing business with him.
