This I've tried and it doesn't work because
1. NIE2.x doesn't run on the MP1x0
2. NIE1.x doesn't support TCP/IP over AT/LT only NIE2 does.

Save your precious time and better play with your kids :-) Lately I
electrified a guitar for my son. He'd so much fun and soon we'll play a song
together.

Not for the MP1x2, because most drivers won't run nor the required NIE2
runs. You'll need NewtonDevices which isn't part of NIE1.x. I has been
introduced at the same time as Apple introduced the new layer into
AppleTalk/LocalTalk and made the Mac and MP2k (incidently?) communicating
over Ethernet.
