[NTLK] Reconditioning of EL-background illimination foils

Dear Newser,

as you might know, the Newton background illumination works with light
emitting electro-lumineszenz foils. Unfortunately, the light gets less
bright over time. The self destructing electro chemical process was known
to be irreversible.
In fact, it is possible to recondition the EL-foils, but you have to
filter out light with the right wavelength. Now I found a small German
manufacturer of filter foils (P/N 02-04-01 from AFJ) with just the right
chromatic characteristic for the Newton backlight. You put on the right
cut foil like you do with nushields and put the Newt into the sunlight.
The nice sunshine we now have in Germany was just right to do a test.
Today I put my everyday Newton with the filter foil into the sun light for
about 2 hours. Now it's brighter than my almost new spare Newt.
I'm going to order 10 m^2 tonight. If anyone wants to have a sheet right
cut for the 2x00, just wrote me an email.
