Probably. It seems that most screen related problems are related to the
screen or the electronics in its sub-assembly. I have swapped between 2k and
2k1 several times, twice for mating a really good screen on the better
motherboard and once to put a screen with poor alignment into an older
machine.

It's worth a try just to see where the problem really resides.

It's not too bad. The screen assembly comes out easily after the MB has been
removed and if you track down all the little screws, especially around the
battery compartment. Don't forget the port cover before you put the screen
back.

Be careful with the spring that acts as one of the battery contacts - look
carefully at how it is seated before removing it and try to keep the bending
loads as low as poss when you reassemble.
