Everything you have on your Newton takes a bit of heap memory for itself
even when it's not being used. The more stuff you have loaded the less heap
you have available for packages you run. Freezing a package releases that
bit of heap the package would normally use.
Heap isn't a major problem on the MP2100 unless you have a LOT of
packages loaded. On other Newts freezing packages you aren't going to use
makes other packages run better since they have more heap available.
Internet applications, for example, require a lot of heap to run so if you
are low on heap memory management can slow things down. Freezing other
packages helps.
There are a number of freeze packages ... Check on UNNA.
