Donald,

Always think in terms of ATOMS, not molecules. Make your unit of exchange
the NOTE, not any aggregate of notes. Then, make sure the NOTE is handled
without any constraining assumptions or program determined features. This
'open' approach will maintain the potential of your work to adapt to
unplanned situations.
