Okay, here's my idea for how such a service could work (minus the
logistics of how to set it up and pay for it - does someone here have a
friend who could set up a 800 number grata? probably not..)

If you call up from the Dock on a "virgin" Newt, it would either
first download a special package, or ask you what you wanted to do (I
don't know how much can be done through the Dock modem connection,
whether you can execute NS on the client - to ask the user questions
for instance) If you could ask the user a question, it would give you
an option of installing the special package, the newest version of
NewtSync, a version of whatever sync package their is for Windows, a
TCP/IP driver (perhaps with some kind of autodetect if you can run NS
over the connection) If the special package is detected, it is run (if
it can be)

The special package mentioned would be a kind of "Software Update"
service, perhaps tying directly into UNNA. This might also be expanded
to allow some kind of online-syncronization service, like iCal
publishing.
