    Just try again, restarting the newton without loading packages should
work in your case.

    There are two points in your screen where you can hold your pen when
starting:
in portrait or landscape orientation (the apple logo down or right) hold the
pen in the screen 1/2 inch from the case horizontally and in the middle
vertically. it will ask you about loading the programs, tell it no.
