Dear Joshua,

There is no reason to go and fight with Woo or anyone else. You've
expressed your opinion, and I'm happy of it. You've been saying I
meant this or that things while it wasn't right, but I'll consider
it's because my English isn't that good, not because you didn't read
what I wrote carefully. You've been using words or a tone that
shocked some people here, but I think they all gave up on this thread.

It seems to me that you are new to the list and because it's in the
context of angry messages, you take offense on some things which
doesn't serve your point of view.

Example:

À (At) 2:05 -0400 30/07/02, Joshua Johnston écrivait (wrote) :
>Why do you put 'quotes' around words? Are you trying to make the
>mistaken 'implication' that I said things you're 'saying' I intended to
>state? That's the typical use of quotes, other markers substitute for
>emphasis.
>
>Why did you post five messages in response to my two? Are you not
>capable of reading and retaining a whole two emails before replying?
>Gee, and I thought I was the one with Attention Deficit Disorder around
>here.

Woo uses SimpleMail and cuts his replies in several messages. This is
how he behaves, don't consider it as an attack. Everyone got
accustomed to it.

Or:

>Pricing had just been announced.

It has not. This discussion has occurred several times before, and
you're not the only one who said that 50 Euros was excessive,
although most of the time it was based on a comparison with eBay
cards (I know you mentionned price watch).

The 75 Euros license has been set up in May:
http://www.newtontalk.net/archive/newtontalk.2002-05/1745.html

The 50 Euros price has been set very early. Check April 2001 page:

>since Paul will not accept donations

This is wrong again. I refused that people replace the two Newtons
I've killed during development. I was very embarrassed about it. I
have the mails on a CD, but I recall that many people offerred to
send me their Newton, which I couldn't stand.
If you check my donation page (http://www.kallisys.com/donations/),
you'll see that some people did make donations, and I'm very grateful
of it. I'm extremely happy of Kyle's G4 card. ATA Support compiles
much faster. Even if OS X is painfully slow, at least I've been able
to install it and work on the ADSP thing. I just mention Kyle's card
because it's the last hardware donation, but I could say the same
thing of every piece of hardware/software mentioned there except the
Quiches that I ate quite a long time ago :)

>I thought about it, decided I thought Paul could make more money by

>$50. He disagrees, that's fine. I still think I'm right, though.

Good. I heard your point. As I mentionned it here before, I don't try
to maximize the money I'll make out of it. I've decided to set the
price at 50 Euros (btw, it's euros, not dollars, when I chose this
price it was around 40 USD) a long time ago and while there were
people who said it was too expensive, there were also people who said
it was fair even if they won't buy it.
I'll stick to it because I think that most users who need this
software can afford it (since they actually need to buy some
hardware) and they mostly think it's a fair price. There will always
be people who will think it's too expensive.
I consider that users who think that eBay's linear cards are better
for them or who prefers to spend as little money as possible on data
storage don't need ATA Support. And users who only need 4 MB can use
the demo version that will be fully functionnal, and they'll deserve
full technical support as well.

Best regards,

Paul
