I've been running a shoutcast server for several years
now. What's cool about Shoutcast is that it reformats
the MP3s to a lower bitrate for streaming. I have my
MP3s at a VBR of 160. My Shoutcast is set for 40.
this way my DSL circuit isn't overloaded.
I constantly run my Shoutcast server so I can listen
to my music anywhere. I'm also trying to set up a
dynamic MP3 player for the car using a WinCE device
and a wireless link. This way, my house is a "docking
station" for my car's music player!
