[NTLK] AW: AW: [ot][soccer][or football][whatever]

Yes, they look and behave like animals, don't they? It reminds me of what is
inside of us - a power which leads to much more violent events than a ritual
called football (and this although football hasn't and doesn't cause such
events)

It's not football and its rural, animalstic supporters which start wars...

I at least - and I am a very peaceful person in normal life - am fascinated
of this violent mass-phenomenon. But I hate to see those people fight
(seldom and the fewest do) as I hate to see wars, terrorist attacks and
fascist regimes.

But I like to use this niche to act violent without hurting anyone. Call
that insane, I find it healthy.

And, oh, I love football because of the game.

Best Matze

I guess that this attitude is what COMPLETELY turns me off about sports =
in
general and Footbol in particular...

The lemming-like attitude that drives masses of people to the point =
where
they would KILL someone over kicking a ball into a net...it's =
sickening, and
a microcosm of the larger problem of nationalistic hatred.

Think about it - you are talking about being swayed to the point of =
violence
by the on-field performance of people who don't know you and probably
wouldn't care to know you...professionals being PAID. They aren't an =
army -
and if they become a symbol of national pride, then I suggest that =
their
fans are exactly the kind of people that have led untold millions to =
die in
pointless conflicts over some real or imagined slight to national =
pride.

Yes, it is such a bore! Why can't I live in the US, where they =
broadcast
really exiting sports, such as wrestling or monstertruckracing or =
bowling...

Lee, football isn't a tv-sport, it is actually a sport event, which you =
want
to see live in the stadium, where the audience celebrates and prays and =
not
seldom literaly fights for the team - no popcorn, no organ or claping
machines. You have to have expierienced how thousand of fans travel =
hundreds
of km twice a month to support their team at an away-ground, then you =
won't
judge football a boring game - it is in fact a kind of an exciting war
without weapons.

Best Matze, supporter of Fortuna 95 Duesseldorf, a team playing in the =
4th
(!!!) german division.

I can't help it. I find football/soccer/footbol ineffably boring.

In the interests of making sure that everything I send to the list is =
at
least slightly off-topic...

Did anyone get the new Korn album? It's not too bad.
