Is there any sort of backing that needs to be peeled off? Or is that those
other screen protectors?

As for the trimming... From what I've seen people post, I think they
generally (somehow) tuck these things under the edge of the screen. Of
course, some folks report that they are able to fit a business card(!) in
that space. If they're intended to get 'tucked in' then I'd have to trim on
my 130 as well, since there's no way anything bigger than an amoeba is
squeezing in there.
