[NTLK] [OT][long] Airport Lans and XP

Does anyone have experience connecting PCs running XP with 802.11b cards
with Airport basestations? One of my employees bought a new Fujitsu
B-series Lifebook with on-board Prism wireless lan and XP Professional.

This is a great little windows box, and it connects to our Lucent
Residential Basestation at the office with no problems (supposedly the same
hardware as Airport Basestation). Her home is all Mac, (and her husband was
the one who talked me into buying my first Newton), and has an Airport
wireless Lan.

The problem is that the Fujitsu doesn't seem to recognize the Airport
Network, even when other network cards are used. I briefly brought in my
own (much older) Fujitsu B-142 with XP, and my Hawking 802.11b card was able
to tell that there was an Apple network around, though it wouldn't accept
DHCP settings from the Apple Network. My own suspicion is that there is
something about the configuration of the Airport Basestation or the Linksys
router that is keeping other machines off her network, but her "computer
guy" claims that her problem was that the Fujitsu just isn't compatible with
Apple networking. He also says that if her machine had Win2000, it would
probably work.

This makes no sense to me. We are using TCP/IP at the office with no
trouble, and all we want to do is connect to the internet through her
router. Any suggestions?

BTW, for my own home network I use a Compaq WL400 access point that I got
off e-bay for about $90.00 several months ago, and it works fine connecting
my XP PC's, my 2100, Basilisk, and several Mac's.
