I disagree. A handheld OS does not translate well to a
desktop setting and vise-versa. On a desktop, you need
massive storage and horsepower for figuring out that
IT budget for the next 5 years. For a handheld, you
need seriously simple UIs and extreme speed for
pulling up information in an instant. Hard drives
don't do it so you're limited to storage size (within
reasonable price points of course). Plus, an
innovative data entry system that requires little or
no thought. Second nature, so to speak...
If you want to talk about ease of use, nothing...and I
mean NOTHING beats the Magic Cap environment. I gave a
PIC1000 to an 80 year old great grandmother once to
send an email to her grandson. It was as simple as
tapping on the note pad sitting on the desk, writing a
message, opening the drawer for an envelope and
addressing (I had to help her with the email
address...she had problems understanding the "@" and
the ".com" things)
If anyone wants to see this OS in action, I have a
Beta that was never released on my server (sorry,
windows only) I've installed it last on Windows 95, so
I dont' know how it would work on newer OS's.

Too often, the mindset it positioning the PDA as a
"window" to your desktop machine. Unfortunatly,
because corporations own most of the desktop machines,
and they are mostly locked down, personal choice of
PDAs is limited to what the IT department supports.
