Really? I completely disagree, I would argue that 7.5.x was a terrible
release, hence the great number of fast point releases put out for it
7.5.1, 7.5.2, 7.5.3, 7.5.5 and not long after them 7.6. I have found
7.6 to be fast and happy and actually it is my favorite Classic Mac OS
with 8.6 a close second [9.x does not even make the running]. I prefer
7.6 over 8.6 for its slim and trim running with adequate functionality.
You can run 7.6 on a 68k Mac using only 4MB of RAM [for the OS] and it
will fly. Give it a slow PowerPC chip and it just burns. 8.6 is
probably the best of everything that came after [although 8.1 is very
good too] but it requires much more resources for the same speed. One
could always say that 7.1 uses even less resources but 7.1 lacks a lot
of the functionality that 7.6.1 has, you can still do fairly modern
work on 7.6.1, on 8.6 you can do anything you need to outside of Mac OS
X.
