HTTP proxy is NOT socks proxy. The structure is completely different. You
must have a socks server running to be able to get to the Internet using a
socks proxy. Normally it runs on port 1080. All access goes through the
socks server when accessing the Internet in this fashion. You must have a
socksified client to use a socks proxy. I 99% certain that SimpleMail
cannot support this.
