Okay, so we know that when you try to connect from the newt, RX blinks and
when you send from HT, TX blinks. That sounds exactly correct. You most
likely have a good physical connection. You can always try to connect from
the newt and see what comes up in HT, but it is pretty academic at this point.

Shut down HT and bring up the NCU and check your port settings. Make sure
you are using COM1. By the way, turn off the FIFOs on the serial port if
you can. Try to connect.
